What is the Accredited Business Identification Program (ABIP)?

The ABIP program allows participating members who qualify to identify their association with the BBB by using the authorized BBB name and/or logo in their off-line advertising.

Who is Eligible?

Any business or organization that is a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau is eligible to participate. In order to do so, a member must sign an agreement with the BBB that indicates that it is “pre-committed to arbitration”. This simply means that if a consumer complaint against the business cannot be resolved through normal Bureau mediation, then the case can be turned over to an impartial arbitrator, whose decision in the matter will be legally binding.
Why Participate?

Consumers are aware of the Better Business Bureau and according to polls have a favorable impression of it. By using the BBB name and/or logo, your business is associating itself with an organization that people both know and trust.

Displaying the authorized BBB name and/or logo immediately identifies your firm as a supporter of the Better Business Bureau and thus as a supporter of ethical standards and practices associated with the BBB system. Your customers can have the confidence that you are willing to subject your performance to an independent third party.

The authorized BBB name and/or logo symbolize your commitment to binding arbitration, which further demonstrates to consumers your dedication to fair business practices.

Examples of Name and Logo Usage

• The Yellow Pages, and other recognized business directories.
• Newspaper, and other forms of media (including TV and radio).
• Business stationery, including business cards, contracts, quotations, flyers and invoices.
• Vehicles in the case of small businesses who do not have a store front location.

Please note the use of the BBB name and/or logo is not permitted to be used on the internet unless your firm is a BBBOnline participant.
